When I was just got my job with the “Brooklyn dodgers” Branch Ricky he told me not to fight back with the people who called me names so, I didn’t.
Just like that the season started we were celebrating after today’s win. We were having a good time getting ready to go in restaurant when a man said “can’t you read black” said the man. “The sign said NO BLACKS” I was stunned. Branch said “sorry Jackie, if I new we never would have came here. W… well its ok I lied, I’ll go home and eat.
So while I was walking home I thought about I watched all the signs that said “whites only” or “blacks only.”
I felt so alone like the only black person in the world then I realized that I past my hotel. When I got home I thought about segregation I didn’t think it was right but it was happening.
If men like the one at the restaurant never said that I never think I would have got so mad and try to stop segregation to break the color line.
